OLD SCHOOL: LIFE IN THE SANE LANE – Bill O'Reilly and Bruce Feirstein

Bill O'Reilly and Bruce Feirstein have clearly defined the current social dichotomy sweeping the nation with humor and pin-point accuracy. The book is definitely worth reading for some hearty chuckles along with obvious truths…especially if you are 'Old School' — Snowflakes may have a hard time accepting what they will see in the mirror that the authors hold up for them. I'm guessing most 'Snowflakes' won't even bother to read the book, much less honestly consider the contents as a valid evaluation of today's generational value conflicts.

You have probably heard the term 'Old School', but what you might not know is that there is a concentrated effort to tear that school down. It's a values thing. The anti-Old School forces believe the traditional way of looking at life is oppressive. Not inclusive. The Old School way may harbor mcroaggressions. Therefore, Old School plilosophy must be diminished, ridiculed and sometimes just plain outlawed. Those crusading against Old School now have a name: Snowflakes. You may have seen them on cable TV whining about social injustice and income inequality. You may have heard them cheering Bernie Sanders as he suggested the government pay for almost everything. The Snowflake crown is loud and proud, and they don't like Old School grads.

So, where are you in all this? Did you get up this morning knowing there are mountains to climb – and deciding how you are going to climb them? Do you show up to work or other appointments on time? Do you still bend over to pick up a penny – in a manner of speaking? Do you still say 'Please' and 'Thank You' or 'Pardon Me' and hold doors open for someone following you, without even thinking about it? If so, you are probably Old School.

OR, did you wake up whining about safe spaces and trigger warnings and feeling marginalized by your college's mascot? Do you search for, and find, something to be 'outraged' about, every single day? And then fire off tweet after re-tweet defending your exquisitely precious sensibilities? If so, then you are a Snowflake.
