Hi! We are Gordon & Dindy Mills. We are the proud owners of Books and More. We had no idea what we were looking for in the fall of 2013, when we arrived in North Myrtle Beach. We were starting the next chapter in our lives, so the possibilities were endless.
We met a lovely lady who had an established used bookstore. Due to health issues, she was needing assistance. We were able to help her and keep the business going. Eventually her illness kept her from working the bookstore any longer. She knew we loved it, offered it to us, and we bought it.
She has since passed, but we know she would be proud of the growth the bookstore has seen in the last 10 years. Many of her original customers still support the store and have become our friends. That is how our story begins with Books and More.
Gordon has retired after 20+ years of working with big business. His dream was to be his own boss (Dindy lets him pretend he is). Gordon is whom you will meet at the store. He can or at least try to answer your questions about authors, books, genres, and more. He is a whiz with Google. Gordon loves to hear about a book you just couldn’t put down. Or your opinion if the book or movie was better.
Dindy is the behind the shelves owner. She is the merchandiser, décor purchaser, and boss (Gordon will agree). She works a full-time job outside of the bookstore. You might get lucky and catch a glimpse of her on Sundays. Dindy’s love for books started when her dad put a Webster Dictionary in her lap, before she could walk. This year she has published her first children’s book. Dindy enjoys reading Stephen King, Historical Fiction, Biographies, the South, and Mad Magazine.

We have over 15,000 books in our store! Start by looking thru our $1 rack and bins that are outside and right by the entrance.
Our outside books are BOGO – a deal for everyone. Then come in and browse our vast selection of genres: Southern, Romance, Book Club, Mystery/Suspense, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Military, Biographies, True Crime, Christian Fiction, Inspirational, Amish, Signed, Sports, Special Interest, Political, Cookbooks, Self Help, Westerns, Large Print, Historical Fiction, Historical Romance, Young Adult, Chapter books, and picture books for the kids. Books are priced 50 – 75% off original cover price. Our in-store inventory contains hard back, paper back, and trade size. All hard back books in store are sold with dust jackets.
We offer a trade in program for gently used books. Check out the Trade In Program for further information. Donations are always welcome.
I always love finding hidden gems, and Books and More is definitely a gem. It’s got so many good authors and titles, all at great prices. The owner was super friendly and helpful! There were lots of sections. Everything was organized well, and I was very happy with the prices. Support local stores (especially local book stores!)
Love this place. Was on my way out of SC when I rode pass this place and I had to stop. Good thing I did. Great book store. They also had pins! Very good pins. Lots of Mickey mouse. The vibe was good and the man that I assume owns it was a big help! Go down there and check it out. It has a lot of offer!
